In Louisiana, golf is unique. You can play golf on the site of a battle from the War of 1812 or at an actual old plantation home. Golf courses have become a natural part of the landscape. Today, Louisiana boasts some of the finest golf courses anywhere and a Golf Trail as unique as the state itself, giving a whole new meaning to the state's nickname The Sportsman's Paradise.
In 2001, the Louisiana State Parks Department created the Audubon Golf Trail. This incredible collection of world-class golf courses blends championship golf with coastal scenery and Cajun culture. Experience the courses carved out of the natural landscape and crafted by David Toms, Pete Dye, Hal Sutton, and Robert von Hagge. Imagine the scenic live oaks, dripping with Spanish moss, cypress knees peeking from the swamp, graceful egrets taking wing...these are just some of the natural sights you'll see while enjoying a golf outing along the Audubon Golf Trail. The Audubon Golf Trail was named for John James Audubon, who was captivated with the natural beauty and nature of Louisiana. As a way to help preserve the natural beauty and heritage of the game, all trail courses are sanctioned members of Audubon International's Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses, promoting ecologically sound land management and the conservation of natural resources.
